How do I install a Gear Shift Knob?
In general, its very easy and quick to install a Gear Shift Knob.
- Remove old shift knob by unscrewing counter-clockwise.
- If there is a boot-cover, you simply pull down the boot-cover to detach from the knob.
- Install the new SHIFTIN shift knob by screwing it clockwise.
- If there is a boot-cover, it simply snaps back into the knob.
- You may need to push firmly on the shift knob while screwing, to start the thread.
- Do not over tighten. If needed, try unscrewing and re-installing.
- If it keeps spinning, you can use some plumbers tape (thread sealing tape) to control the thread.

What should I do if my new gear shift knob is loose?
If the knob feels loose, ensure it's correctly aligned and tightly screwed. If the issue persists, contact our customer support for assistance. As a helpful suggestion, you might try inserting a tiny piece of cotton or tissue paper into the thread hole to adjust the depth, or consider wrapping a bit of plumbers tape (thread sealing tape) around the lever thread. These are just optional tips that many find useful for such situations.

The knob keeps on spinning and doesn't stop, what can I do?
If the knob doesn't stop at desired position or doesn't align well, one can try inserting a tiny piece of cotton or tissue paper into the thread hole to adjust the depth, or consider wrapping a bit of plumbers tape (thread sealing tape) around the lever thread.
The shift knobs is not threading/screwing, what can I do?
- If the thread doesn't start at all, you may have to push down a little bit to start the thread.
- If it started screwing but it just keeps spinning, one can try inserting a tiny piece of cotton or tissue paper into the thread hole to adjust the depth, or consider wrapping a bit of plumbers tape (thread sealing tape) around the lever thread.
- Please make sure your thread size is correct. Most common thread size for Toyota and Lexus are 8mm or M8.
